Congratulations Graduates!

Graduation took place on June 16, 2017.  A beautiful liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Tom Pettei, Episcopal Vicar and Alum of St. Matthias School.  The Children’s Choir did an amazing job led by Mr. Steven Frank and accompanied by Mr. Ken Powis.  The Graduation Ceremony included awards, both academic and service.  Thank you to Ms. Santoro and Mr. Gering for all their work in making this day so special for our graduates, their families, and our school community.  Thank you to our seventh grade volunteers for doing such a great job!  Thank you to Bishop Neil for your support and presence at our graduation.  Check out the graduate photos under the photo tab.  See the list below for our high school choices!

Hello, St. Matthias family. My husband, Ed Coyne, is a member of the St. Matthias Ridgewood class of 1970 and our son, Sean McCarthy-Coyne, graduated in 2013. St. Matthias has been very good to our family, taking us in when Superstorm Sandy destroyed our Breezy Point home. We relocated to Ridgewood while we rebuilt, and both Sean and his younger brother Eddie attended St. Matthias for the 2012-2013 school year.
Now, as the Diocese mandates that the school become St. Matthias Catholic Academy (SMCA), I am giving back by serving as the Chair of the newly formed SMCA Board of Directors. Only the name is changing – St. Matthias will continue to offer Foundations of Mind and Spirit (our new tag line) to our students.
Please consider assisting St. Matthias by volunteering to serve on our Marketing or Development Committees. Email me at for more information, or to learn about other ways you can help. With gratitude, Ellen McCarthy-Coyne
