Principal’s Message

“The giving of love is an education in itself.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

Can you feel it?  Summer’s around the corner and we’re dreaming about sandy beaches and backyard barbeques!  It hardly seems possible that we’re preparing for graduation and closing ceremonies.

We’ve enjoyed so many special events in recent months…May Crowning, First Communions, Family Bingo, the Annual Family Dance, our Spring Musical, PreK Muffins with Mom, the 2nd grade Wax Museum, and more.  We are so grateful to all who made these events possible!

Before we look to the coming month, I wish to take a moment to share with you the next steps in our transition into an Academy.  Rest assured many things remain the same.  We’re updating paperwork, adding a school board to help with decision making, fundraising, recruitment, and marketing, and making the school a corporation separate from the parish.  Our connection to the parish will continue, but the “businesses” become separate entities.

The school board will officially be seated by the end of June.  In the Fall, you will have an opportunity to meet the board and hear more about the status of our school and planning for the future.  We are looking for parent volunteers who would be willing to sit on fundraising or marketing committees to assist the work of the board.  Please contact me if you can lend a hand.

Congratulations to our Class of 2017!  You will experience two milestones during the month of June.  On June 4th, we will pray and celebrate with you as you receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on the beautiful Feast of Pentecost.  Then on June 16th, we will share in your graduation.  May the knowledge and blessings you have received at St. Matthias School anchor you in faith and encourage you to reach beyond your potential in the years to come.  You will be missed!

We also congratulate our Pre-K and Kindergarten students on their completion of their first school years.  You’ve grown so much!  We look forward to ending this school year with celebrations of all we have learned and with our eyes focused on the year to come.

St. Matthias School continues to thrive thanks to the efforts of faculty, families, our alumni, and benefactors.  It is truly a privilege and a blessing to be a part of such a special school family!
