Congratulations Graduates!

What a wonderful day to celebrate a SMCA graduation!  The skies were bright on June 15th as the graduates put on their gowns to participate in a beautiful liturgy celebrated by our alum, Father Thomas Pettei.  The Mass was attended by the school community, families, members of the academy board, and former faculty and staff.  We were honored to have Sr. Katharine and Sr. Bernadette share in this celebration.  The Children’s Choir was at their very best under the direction of Mr. Steven Frank, assisted by cantor, Ken Powis.  It was truly a beautiful tribute to our academy’s mission as a Catholic School.

Then, we gathered in the evening to complete our day of celebration with the Diploma and Award Ceremony.  It was another experience steeped in the tradition of St. Matthias School and Catholic Academy.  The pride of the faculty, families and staff was obvious as students took to the stage to celebrate their scholastic achievements.  They were also honored for their service and attendance.  Bishop Neil Tiedemann gave the Commencement Address.  He reminded the graduating class that they were gift and gifted.  Bishop Neil told our graduates that God had blessed them with the skills, faith, and knowledge to make the world a better place.  This same theme was echoed in the Opening Remarks and Principal’s Prayer, as well as, Aleksandra’s Graduate Reflection.

Our seventh grade volunteers did a wonderful job in support of this occasion.  Special thanks to Mr. Gering, Ms. Santoro, and Ms. Klein for making our Graduation Day so very special.

Class of 2018, we are proud of you!
