Principal’s Message

Love…bears all things, believes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

The cold winds of winter continue as we study, play and pray at St. Matthias Catholic Academy. We hope you enjoyed our Catholic Schools Week events showcasing our Hydroponic Lab and celebrating Discipleship. Everyone worked so hard to make our projects and activities truly reflect the special qualities of our school family. Thank you to all who helped to make our week a success. Every volunteer is important whether you’re serving coffee, directing tours, helping with a pizza lunch, or sharing the “good news” about our academy throughout the neighborhood.

Progress Reports will be distributed on Feb. 13th. This signals the halfway point of this school year. Please review these reports very carefully and schedule an appointment with your child’s teachers if you have concerns. (The progress report will clearly indicate if your child’s work is below grade level. This would be a serious warning that intervention is necessary for promotion in June.) The second trimester report cards will be distributed on March 15th.

Our HAA committees continue to sponsor fundraising and spirit events. Plans are underway for our indoor Carnival on Mar. 12th. This event is always a favorite and is a great way to build school spirit. Make sure you are signing up to complete your volunteer hour commitment. It’s a proven fact that students excel when their parents volunteer in their school. Join us and “catch the spirit”!

Registration has begun for the 2019-20 school year. Please carefully read the information sent home through your child’s folder. If you have a child to register that does not currently attend our school, it is very important that you contact the office to reserve a seat. Please note that this year a tuition grant is again being offered to referring families who bring new students to SMCA. We are grateful to all who help our academy family grow.

The St. Matthias Educational Foundation continues their work of supporting the students and mission of St. Matthias Catholic Academy. This year alone they have funded classroom sets of chrome books, our new Robotic kits, the Student Appreciation Assemblies and more. Please support their upcoming Annual Fund Drive and Golf Outing by seeking donors and sponsors. We are truly blessed with the support of many benefactors and alumni. Let’s work together to find even more friends who can partner with us in this mission of Catholic Education.

God bless you for your cooperation and for your gift of Catholic Education to your child…It’s a treasure that lasts a lifetime!
