Students in the eighth grade, and if needed, students in the seventh or sixth grade serve as Math tutors to their peers; if needed, they may also tutor students in the middle grades, under the supervision and direction of the middle grade Math teacher. In order to serve as a tutor, the student must have demonstrated mastery of the required subject matter.
Students who score below a "3" on the New York State Assessment are required to receive tutoring as part of the plan of academic intervention. Tutoring is also made available to students who are in danger of failing the subject, or are otherwise struggling. The purpose of tutoring is limited to remediation, not enrichment.
Be punctual in maintaining the tutoring appointment time.
Discuss any problems with the faculty moderator.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality about the students you are tutoring.
