Student Safety Patrol

Eligibility:

Open to all students beginning in January of the year they enter 7th Grade until January of the year they are in 8th Grade, provided they demonstrate cooperative/responsible behavior. Written parental permission is required.

Preparation:

Procedures and responsibilities are reviewed with the student by the faculty moderator.

Responsibilities:

Raise and lower the flag outside of school.

Monitor stairways as assigned.

Maintain order at his/her post, without physical intervention.

Assist crossing guards in ensuring safe passage of students across designated intersections.

Correct student misbehavior, and report it to the faculty moderator as instructed.

Be punctual in arrival at post as assigned.

Attire:

Safety belt as a sign of authority.

Appropriate outerwear; poncho/slicker in inclement weather.

Schedule:

Dependent on the number of student volunteers.

Goal is to organize two teams, with alternating schedules.
