Dress Down Rules

Our school will enjoy two types of dress down days this year. Eight class dress down days will be offered to each class (grades K to 8). Class dress down days will be awarded by the classroom teacher as a reward for positive school spirit shown by her class. Parents will be notified when their child’s class has earned a dress down day. This is not a fundraiser. No donation will be required for your student to participate. Proper behavior and strong school spirit wins the day!

For all CLASS DRESS DOWN DAYS, students may wear casual clothing — jeans, sweats, skirts, slacks, and dresses. All clothing must be clean and free of holes. No wording or pictures that are offensive to the mission of St. Matthias School are permitted. Please avoid baggy or very tight clothing. Short shorts or skirts/dresses are inappropriate. No exposed undergarments or short shirts that do not completely cover the student’s stomach and back may be worn.

All dress down days for NUT cards (candy sale) require gym uniform with sneakers.

THE ONLY TYPES OF FOOTWEAR PERMITTED IN SCHOOL ARE REGULATION SCHOOL SHOES OR SNEAKERS! THIS IS A SAFETY REGULATION BECAUSE OF THE HARD, TILE FLOORS AND MANY STAIRS.

If your child does not follow the dress down regulations, then you will be called to bring their uniform and proper shoes. If you cannot be reached, then your child would give up his/her participation in the next class dress down.

The faculty and students of our school enjoy the Dress Down Days. In order to assure a positive, serious, learning environment, it is very important for the simple regulations to be followed. Your cooperation helps to make our dress down days a positive experience for all! Thank you.
