This month we take time to pause and celebrate our students' climb up the ladder of education. It doesn't matter whether we're focused on our pre-kindergartener, a fourth grader, or a member of our graduating class; our pride in their achievements and our prayers for their future remain the same. These students have worked hard. They have grown in faith and knowledge. They are ready to rise to the challenges that lie ahead.

And so we will celebrate! Pre-K and kindergarten closing ceremonies will be filled with song and praise. These young students have learned their letters and numbers. They have prayed together and shared. They have taught us, as well. Their lives are constant reminders of the glory of God's creation and the excitement that comes with learning new things. Their simple questions cause us to reflect on our own beliefs and understandings.

The Class of 2010 has reached a milestone in their academic careers, as well. They will leave us now filled with the lessons of faith, respect, and love. Their future is bright, and we know that we will hear of their great accomplishments in the years to come. Most importantly, they symbolize the true mission of Saint Matthias School. While completing the academic program at our school, these students have grown in understanding of what it means to be "a family". Their reactions in these final days before graduation are clear evidence that they have come to feel the power of "communion" …oneness with God and one another. Their bond is strong... it reaches beyond the divisions that often separate people today. They have learned the strength that comes from being "one" in faith and friendship. Through the tragedies and challenges they have faced, they have taught us the power of unity, the acceptance of differences, and the "hope" that is fueled by love. Congratulations to our graduates! May their future be bright and lives be blessed!

The rest of our student body has also worked hard and achieved great things this year. They have earned their summer rest. May they enjoy it to its' fullest...

Our school administration, faculty, and parent community continue to partner and plan for the future. It is true for us, also, that we must continue to climb the ladder rungs that will lead our school forward. The work done this year through parent involvement, our educational foundation, and our efforts with capital improvements have strengthened our already well-recognized academic program.

We are pleased to announce the birth of two new baby girls in April and May. Mrs. Maglio, our band teacher, along with her husband welcomed Baby Lily on April 29th. Mr. & Mrs. Moreno (Class 1A) celebrated the birth of their daughter, Gisella, on May 8th. Congratulations to both families! We also extend best wishes to Mr. & Mrs. Trimarchi (Class 4A) and Christine Galicia (PDHP Counselor) & her husband as they eagerly await the birth of their babies. This has truly been a season of new life!

And so we end our year with words of thanks and praise...well done! Best wishes to all of our parents, faculty, and students…Have a safe & happy summer!
